The county is focused on restoring access for stranded residents as quickly as possible. Crews are actively working to make bridges passable on a temporary emergency basis at a minimum.

CalTrans plans to reopen 198 with complete and full access today, 11 March, by 2pm at the latest.
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks to close at 6pm Thursday 9 March. Additional updates, including timeframes for reopening, will be issued as information becomes available.
The Ash Mountain entrance to Sequoia National Park is anticipated to close on Thursday, March 9 at 6 pm. Closures may occur throughout Kings Canyon National Park depending upon how the weather system unfolds.
Mineral King Road remains closed. There is a significant washout that will need additional inspection before engineers are able to determine if the road will support even one lane of traffic.
It is looking like the park is on track to reopen public access to Giant Forest, Lower Sherman Tree, and Wolverton Snowplay Area on or about Saturday, February 11; however, everything needs to go smoothly to meet this date.
This is an update from Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks on winter storm recovery efforts from the last few days. Work continues, and the Park will send additional updates when available. Public access to the Giant Forest is not expected until February 11 or later.
Tomorrow, January 19, NPS officials will host a public meeting on the topic of storm impacts and response at the Three Rivers Memorial Building at 6 p.m. The public meeting about Visitor Experience and Access has been postponed until February.
Due to flood damage and landslides, the South Fork Road is closed in Sequoia National Park, as is the South Fork Campground. Hikers and day users are discouraged from exploring the area because of the hazards.
Due to flooding, Generals Highway is now closed at the Foothills Visitor Center, approximately one mile past the Sequoia National Park entrance station.
