“Sad news for the small but devoted fanbase of our far-flung South Fork Campground and nearby trailheads (which lie at the end of a very rough, long road even under favorable weather conditions) – the recent storms have done extensive damage to this area, including major flooding and landslides. The campground is currently unusable and closed, and the road has suffered severe damage and is basically impassable. We strongly discourage hikers or day users from attempting to explore this area, as both the road and the hillsides may be unstable, and should you need help, it would be very difficult to provide it.”
