Mineral King Road Remains Closed to Public

Road Closures and 30-Minute Construction Delays Expected Until End of June

The Mineral King Road remains closed to all but cabin owners and other authorized traffic.  Public access to Mineral King normally resumes for Memorial Day weekend; however, no firm opening date has been set yet for the 2024 season.

Federal Highways will begin work on the Mineral King Road this week. Starting Wednesday, May 15 the road will be closed to all traffic from 7 a.m. – 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. These traffic control measures are estimated to continue through the following Wednesday, May 22.  The road is open to authorized traffic outside of the closure hours. We anticipate road construction then resuming after Memorial Day with approximate 30-minute delays with flaggers. The contractor hopes to complete efforts by the end of June. We will send an update once the construction is complete and if there are any changes to the planned schedule.

Delay and closure schedules are subject to change, and we urge anyone planning to visit to check our park website for the most current information: https://www.nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/road-construction.htm.
