Operational Videos Available on YouTube

Operational Maps TBD

First, if you signed up to receive daily updates from the incident management team, you should have received your first one yesterday morning and your second one this morning. If you did not receive them or have not signed up for them yet, simply send an email to 2024.coffeepot.ca@firenet.gov and ask to be added to the distribution list. Our thanks to Sue for so rapidly adding hundreds of emails to her distribution list!

Second, as noted in today’s update, in order to provide access to the many members of our community who do not get their news from Facebook, operational update videos will now be posted on YouTube as well. Again, thank you Sue! The link was not provided in today’s update, however. It is https://www.youtube.com/@sequoiaandkingscanyonnps5018/videos.

Third, because the operational maps are not easy to see in the operational videos, we have requested that they be posted on InciWeb. During past fire incidents, the public was provided access to them. We will be notified if public access will be provided for this incident as well.

Fourth, this morning’s update included yesterday’s fire perimeter map. A more up-to-date map has been posted on WatchDuty with the following notes from the expert who interpreted the IR data:

“Extensive growth in the perimeter was detected in the northwestern and southern sections of the fire perimeter. Small areas of creeping growth were noted along the western portions of the perimeter. Several intense fires were detected along the northwestern, western, and southern areas within the perimeter. Scattered fires were detected throughout the area, but primarily located in the southern half of the fire perimeter. Isolated fires were detected primarily in the northern half of the fire perimeter.” More information will be forthcoming in today’s operational update video, of course!

We have attached the map below.
