Visalia prepares for localized flooding as Lake Kaweah reaches capacity and Terminus Dam activates spillway

Based on the current levels provided by the US Army Corps of Engineers, Lake Kaweah has reached capacity and has activated the spillway.

With the lake at capacity, Visalia officials expect that the situation at Terminus Dam may result in additional flows downstream that could reach Visalia later this morning. There are multiple factors that affect the flow of the water, such as debris or natural mechanisms, that delay the flow.

There could be localized flooding near waterways. This means that water could reach capacity in the waterways and spill over at various points.
