Highway 180 and Highway 63 are Closed Due to Fire
Park Visitors are Being Routed Through Three Rivers
Highway 180 and Highway 63 are closed due to a growing fire incident. There is currently no access to the parks from the Fresno area. Highway 180 is closed from Cove Road to Dunlap Road. Highway 63 is closed at Orange Cove to the Highway 180 Junction.
Park visitors are to be routed through Three Rivers.
The Fresno June Lightning Complex consists of multiple fires east of the Sanger Area, which were sparked by the recent lightning storms. As of about 7am this morning, the three significant fires and additional small fires had consumed about 7002 acres and were about 15% contained.
- Flash Fire – Kings Canyon & Cove Rd, 2,180 acres, 15% contained.
- Bolt Fire – Palomino & Elwood Rd, Wonder Valley area, 4,556 acres, 10% contained.
- Hog Fire – Watts Valley & Hog Mt. Rd, 266 acres, 0% contained.
- Fire is making significant runs, topography and winds are influencing fire behavior.
- Fire is impacting communication infrastructure.
