Public access to the Giant Forest in Sequoia National Park is scheduled to reopen on Saturday, February 11. This reopening will provide access to the Giant Forest Museum, the General Sherman Tree, and Wolverton snowplay area.

Mineral King Road remains closed. There is a significant washout that will need additional inspection before engineers are able to determine if the road will support even one lane of traffic.
It is looking like the park is on track to reopen public access to Giant Forest, Lower Sherman Tree, and Wolverton Snowplay Area on or about Saturday, February 11; however, everything needs to go smoothly to meet this date.
This is an update from Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks on winter storm recovery efforts from the last few days. Work continues, and the Park will send additional updates when available. Public access to the Giant Forest is not expected until February 11 or later.
