The honoree, Austin Parker who is from Hanford, CA joined the Navy in 2007 and retired in 2017 after a serious accident. He trained and participated in various paralympic style competitions in the Department of Defense Warrior Games representing the Navy, and in March of this year he participated as a member of the U.S. para bobsled team in the World Championship festivities in Norway. His team is advocating for the sport of para bobsled to be included in the upcoming Paralympic Games. He was the most recent recipient of an all terrain wheelchair courtesy of Christy Wood and those who donated to her campaign for wounded warriors through the Independence Fund. All are invited to come hear his story of courage and determination. Soup, homemade bread, drinks and desserts will be served, as well.
