Buck Rock Lookout Historic Landmark Dedication

FREE!Please join the Tulare County Historical Society for the unveiling and dedication of its latest historic marker. The event will take place at the base of the lookout – no need to climb the stairs! The gathering will start at 11:30am, and the event will formally commence at noon. There will be a short program followed by refreshments and tours of the lookout. Docents, dignitaries and Smokey Bear will be on hand to provide information and entertainment. We invite you to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy after the ceremony. Be prepared for changeable mountain weather, carpooling is appreciated.

Directions to Buck Rock: Located in the Sequoia National Forest/Giant Sequoia National Monument: Take Hwy 180 east from Fresno or Hwy 63 north from Visalia to 180 east into Kings Canyon National Park. Head south at the “wye” onto the Generals Highway towards Sequoia National Park. Turn north from the Generals Hwy (about 8 miles from Grant Grove) onto the Big Meadows Road (FS 14S11). Drive 3 miles to Horse Camp, turn left onto road 13S04 (a maintained dirt road) and follow the signs to Buck Rock Lookout approximately 2.5 miles. Parking area will be signed. Restrooms available. The National Park charges an entrance fee of $35 per vehicle unless you have a pass. The event is free.
