Date: 16 December 2023

Meeting Location: Sequoia Parks Conservancy headquarters, located behind the Foothills Visitor Center.

Time: 6 AM for OWLING, 7 AM – 5 PM for BIRDING

• Participants do not have to stay the whole day but everyone must join the orientation at 7 AM in order to participate.

Park Entrance: Registered volunteers receive free park entrance for the event. The names of all registered participants will be at the Ash Mountain entrance station, Highway 198, Sequoia National Park.  

Items to Bring: Food and water, clothing appropriate for weather and shoes appropriate for walking outside. Road and weather conditions can change rapidly in the parks. 4WD or snow chains are required for driving in the winter months. Please come with a full tank of gas. 

Difficulty: All birding ability levels (from very first time to advanced birders) are welcome. Physical fitness levels range from easy to strenuous. Consider your preferred birding route prior to the event (please see attachment). Route details will be discussed day-of and volunteers will be organized based on ability, preference and popularity of routes.
