1st Saturday in Three Rivers!
June 1 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
Food * Fun* Fabulous Art
EVERY 1st SATURDAY, the artists, restaurants and merchants of Three Rivers, California, open their doors and invite you to join in a town-wide celebration from 11am to 5pm unless stated on Blog and Map. You can pick up a map and schedule at the Three Rivers Historical Museum and Harrison Hall – the map shows all participating venues, art to see, locations and times for special events. Remember that the map will also contain QR codes that link to more information about each location to help you plan your 1st Saturday experience.
This month we are featuring a business, Kaweah Arts, that promotes all of our artists! Nancy Brunson’s shop is in its new location called “The Dome”. She offers art of all kinds, much of which is made by the artists you can meet on 1st Saturday. Be sure to stop in and see this delightful building full of art of all kinds. Since her weaving studio will not be open, you can find all Nikki’s handwoven towels and other handwoven items at Kaweah Arts.
In Harrison Hall at the Presbyterian Church, we have several artists who will delight you with their various talents. Bertha Garza offers her wonderful Dazzling Dreams Natural Skin Care Products. Two nature photographers whose work is quite different are Scott Reinhardt with his stunning photography of the natural world and Nature Photographer, Lace Montgomery conveying the beauty of the outdoors through her photos. For some fun, visit Correy McGlyn who creates personal, on the spot poems using a typewriter. Elizabeth Mitchell makes beautiful jewelry that is very different than most using a style called bead embroidery or raised textured beading. Discover the crochet talent of art student Ella Hays who makes whimsical crocheted creations.
Also at the church on her first time with 1st Saturday is Cato Belman, local Three Rivers artist who paints abstract things and makes silly comics. She says she is passionate about repurposing old instruments and skateboards into functional art. If you are feeling artistic yourself, you can make a Father’s Day gift in a Free Make & Take Class
We have studios open in various parts of town. Visit Shirley Keller at Spirit Hill Meditation Garden & Art Studio to see her dot art and learn about her 2 published books. Shirley invites you to sit and relax in the Meditation Garden while you are there. Maryam Rasakh has been active in costume design for film and theater. Her focus is on garments made from natural fibers and designs inspired by nature.
A place that’s worth the drive is the ever-popular River Water Pottery Studio & Gallery on South Fork where Anne & HJ Brown make their beautiful handmade pottery. Here you will also find Jami Beck with jewelry, gourds & Macramé items.
Don’t miss our very own Faery Godmother, Linda Dumont, located at her Enchanted Cottage and Garden. Plan to be delighted by her chakras wands, healing mandalas and whimsical sculptures. While you are there, you can enjoy Paintings and Garden Art by David Ramirez.
Other artists will be scattered around town waiting for your visit. Visit Steve and Christy Wood at Wood ‘N’ Horse Studio on North Fork Drive. Signed copies of several of Christy’s books will be available as well as Steve’s outstanding horseshoe art. Pony rides will also be available. Melanie Keeley has started Alta Vista Nursery in Three Rivers. Here she grows beautiful, hardy plants.
Three Rivers Historical Museum has a gift shop and books by local authors. Don’t miss their new Native Voices exhibit! PUBLIC RESTROOMS are also available at the Museum.
Try the newest place in town to eat: Tony’s Taverna on Wheels, serving fresh authentic Greek Food from their food truck in the parking lot of the Museum. Totem Market and Gifts (8 am to 8 pm) is where you can pick up BBQ & Beer and visit a Wine Tasting Bar. Last but certainly not least, a visit to Three Rivers is not complete without stopping at Reimer’s Candies and Gifts for some specially made candy and ice cream.
