EVERY 1st SATURDAY, the artists, restaurants and merchants of Three Rivers, California, open their doors and invite you to join in a town-wide celebration from 11 to 5 o’clock (unless otherwise stated on Blog and Map). You can pick up a map and schedule at Kaweah Arts and the Three Rivers Historical Museum – the map shows all participating venues, art to see, locations and times for special events.
It’s time for Food, Fun and Fabulous Art celebrating 1st Saturday in Three Riverson December 7, 2024 from 11 to 5! Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet?You will find lots of worthy gift ideas on 1st Saturday from artists all over town. Anne and HJ Brown are our Featured Artists this month at the ever-popular River Water Pottery Studio & Gallery on the South Fork where they make their beautiful handmade pottery. Be sure and ask to see HJ’s stunning photographs.They will amaze you!
There you will also find Jami Beck with delightful jewelry, gourds & Macramé items. Just up the road from there is my studio, Handweaving by Nikki where I have my handwoven towels, Mug Rugs, shawls and other creations for your gift giving needs.
For a delightful time, visit Linda Dumont at her Fairy Godmother’s Enchanted Cottage with her chakras, wands, healing mandalas and sculptures. While you are there, be sure to enjoy Paintings and Garden Art by David Ramirez. This location will close at 4:00 p.m.
Visit Shirley Keller at Spirit Hill Meditation Garden & Art Studio to see her dot art and learn about her 2 published books. Shirley invites you to sit and relax in the Meditation Garden while you are there.
Visit Steve and Christy Wood at Wood ‘N’ Horse Studio. Local author Christy Wood has published another book, “Hoofprints Across Time: A Trail Ride to Remember”. Signed copies of several of Christy’s books will be available as well as Steve’s outstanding horseshoe art. Pony rides will also be available.
James Weaver sells honey in its raw form. It is local and of high quality. He will be at the Village Green between the Village Market and Casa Mendoza.
At Community Presbyterian Church’s Harrison Hall, we have artists who will delight you with their various talents. This is where Bertha Garza offers her wonderful Dazzling Dreams Natural Skin Care Products and Nature photographer, Lace Montgomery conveys the beauty of the outdoors through her photos. Ella Hays crochets THE most delightful creatures! Here you can meet Correy McGlyn who creates personal, on the spot poems using a typewriter.
Also at the church is Scott Reinhardt who is a wildlife biologist who achieves stunning photographs of the natural world. Christine Sell Porter, Artist Extraordinaire will offer her greeting cards and watercolors. Tami Crawford uses a variety of materials including ceramic tiles, beads, buttons, glass and stones to create mosaic trays and artwork. New to 1st Saturday is Debbie Hoffman who has been exploring the art of pour painting. You will just have to go there and see what that is. If you are feeling artistic yourself, Kacey Fansett will help you create a unique, one-of-a-kind, tile-treasure coaster. This is a free make and take craft so you can enjoy being creative (at no charge).
Nancy Brunson’s shop, Kaweah Arts, in its new location called “The Dome”, offers art of all kinds, much of which is made by the artists you can meet on 1st Saturday.
Cort Gallery offers the work of several artists. During your time visiting the studios and galleries in Three Rivers, stop by Cort Gallery to find wreaths and art by Noelle Charles. At 2:00 p.m., you can enjoy Diana Glass’s singing.
Three Rivers Historical Museum has a gift shop and books by local authors. Don’t miss their new Native Voices exhibit! PUBLIC RESTROOMS are also available at the Museum.
Try the newest place in town to eat: Tony’s Taverna on Wheels, serving fresh authentic Greek Food from their food truck in the parking lot of the Museum. At Totem Market and Gifts (8 am to 8 pm) is where you can pick up BBQ & Beer and visit a Wine Tasting Bar. Last but certainly not least, a visit to Three Rivers is not complete without stopping at Reimer’s Candies and Gifts for some specially made candy and ice cream.
