1st Saturday in Three Rivers!

May 4 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

 Food * Fun* Fabulous Art

EVERY 1st SATURDAY, the artists, restaurants and merchants of Three Rivers, California, open their doors and invite you to join in a town-wide celebration from 11 to 5 o’clock (unless otherwise stated on Blog and Map). You can pick up a map and schedule at Kaweah Arts and the Three Rivers Historical Museum – the map shows all participating venues, art to see, locations and times for special events.

It’s time for Food, Fun and Fabulous Art celebrating 1st Saturday in Three Rivers, May 4, 2024 from 11 to 5!  We are going back to our regular hours.  Our Featured Artist this month is our very own Faery Godmother, Linda Dumont, located at her Enchanted Cottage and Garden. Plan to be delighted by her chakras wands, healing mandalas and whimsical sculptures.

We have other studios open in various parts of town. Visit Shirley Keller at Spirit Hill Meditation Garden & Art Studio to see her dot art and learn about her 2 published books. Shirley invites you to sit and relax in the Meditation Garden while you are there. New this month is Maryam Rasakh who is a Multifaceted Artist. She has been active in costume design for film and theater for over twenty years and has also founded her own clothing brand, MalMal. Her studio is on South Fork.  A place that’s worth the drive is the ever-popular River Water Pottery Studio & Gallery on South Fork where Anne & HJ Brown make their beautiful handmade pottery. My Handweaving by Nikki, on up the South Fork, is where I have 6 looms, each with a different project. I will offer new handwoven towels, shawls, Mug Rugs and other creations.

A special treat this month will be 5 guitar makers at Splendor in the Grass!  Meet and marvel at the different styles of handmade guitars by Chris Waldschmidt, Jeff Jay, Noah Watenmaker, Martin Pugh and Dave Philp.

In Harrison Hall at the Presbyterian Church, we have several artists who will delight you with their various talents. Bertha Garza offers her wonderful Dazzling Dreams Natural Skin Care Products. Two nature photographers whose work is quite different are Scott Reinhardt with his stunning photography of the natural world and Nature Photographer, Lace Montgomery conveying the beauty of the outdoors through her photos. Brenda Burke knits up a storm making wonderful handmade hats to suit anyone on your gift list and is also offering a great selection of yarn for sale for your own knitting projects. For some fun, visit Correy McGlyn who creates personal,on the spot poems using a typewriter. If you are feeling artistic yourself, Kacey Fansett will help you make a Pressed Flower Pendant in a Free make & take class.

Other artists will be scattered around town waiting for your visit. Melanie Keeley has started Alta Vista Nursery in Three Rivers. Here she grows beautiful, hardy plants. Noelle Charles will host a Community Art Show at Cort Gallery. At Royal Gardens, you will find David Ramirez with Paintings and Garden Art as well as Kayla Pace with beautiful, ready to plant succulents.

Nancy Brunson has re-opened her shop, Kaweah Arts, in its new location called “The Dome”.  She offers art of all kinds, much of which is made by the artists you can meet on 1st Saturday.  Be sure to stop in and see this delightful building full of art.

Three Rivers Historical Museum has a gift shop and books by local authors.  Don’t miss their new Native Voices exhibit!  PUBLIC RESTROOMS are also available at the Museum.

Try the newest place in town to eat: Tony’s Taverna on Wheels, serving fresh authentic Greek Food from their food truck in the parking lot of the Museum. Totem Market and Gifts (8 am to 8 pm) is where you can pick up BBQ & Beer and visit a Wine Tasting Bar. Last but certainly not least, a visit to Three Rivers is not complete without stopping at Reimer’s Candies and Gifts for some specially made candy and ice cream.

Maps with addresses and more information are available for you to pick up at the Historical Museum. Remember that the map will also contain QR codes that link to more information about each location to help you plan your 1st Saturday experience. More information can be found on our website: www.1stSaturdayTR.com where you will soon be able to download a map. I hope to see you Saturday!
