Sequoia National Forest personnel, in coordination with the Sierra National Forest and Kings Canyon National Park, are conducting an extensive burn operation on the north side of Highway 180. On Thursday and Friday, the fire had an adverse effect on air quality in Sequoia National Park and had moderate impacts in some parts of Three Rivers. The Three Rivers Union School District (TRUS) is governed by the TRUS School Board. It holds monthly board meetings held on the second Wednesday of each month at 5:15 PM in the school library. On Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at 10 a.m., all road closures in Sequoia National Park due to the Coffeepot Fire will be lifted, allowing public access. Mineral King Road and its recreation areas, as well as the section of South Fork Road within Sequoia National Park, will reopen. Most trails accessed from these roads will also be available, except for the Lady Bug Trail, which will remain closed.
